2022 CMT Music Awards Adds “Trending Comeback Song of the Year” Category

The 2022 CMT Music Awards show is less than a week away, and the country music hub just unveiled a brand new social-voting awards category on Tuesday, April 5. The Trending Comeback Song of the Year category aims to honor iconic country artists and hit songs that “have not only stood the test of time, but also recently found new popularity,” CMT revealed. Here are the nominees for Trending Comeback Song of the Year:

alan jackson – “Freight train”

Brooks & Dunn – “Neon Moon”

Dolly Parton – “9 to 5”

Reba McEntire – “I’m a survivor”

Sarah Evans – “Foam in the bucket”

Shania Twain – “Man! I feel like a woman!”

Taylor Swift – “Love story”

CMT will continue to release new information throughout the week as the network prepares for the 2022 CMT Music Awards, scheduled for Monday, April 11. The latest announcement revealed additional artists and narrowed down the six Video of the Year finalists. Performers of the evening include mickey guyton and black pumas, Carrie Underwood, Old Dominion, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert and more. Many of the industry’s biggest newcomers — Priscilla Block, BRELAND, Jessie James Decker, Parker McCollum, Elvie Shane and Caitlyn Smith — will also take the stage.

The 2022 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville beginning at 8 p.m. ET Monday. The show airs on CBS and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Fans can catch an extended cut of the show (an additional 30 minutes of performances and bonus footage) on Friday, April 15. See the full list of nominees here.
