Further recognition of innovation in the independent music landscape is recognized in other changes, with Best Small Label changing its name to Best Boutique Label, and Best Creative Packaging becoming Best Creative Campaign. This year’s event follows in the footsteps of 2021’s lively virtual ceremony, when Arlo Parks (Transgressive) and ENNY (FAMM) won two awards each alongside Elkka (Femme Culture), Fontaines DC (Partisan) and Joan Armatrading CBE (BMG), which garnered the Powerful Outstanding Music Contribution. There were also memorable performances using augmented reality, with Tricky (!K7), Working Men’s Club (Heavenly), ENNY and Lava La Rue (Marathon Artists) on stage.
