Chris Martin Backs BTS for Grammys Success E! News UK

Chris Martin hopes BTS will be crowned winner of the Grammys.

The K-Pop boy group – consisting of RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, V and Suga – takes on Chris Coldplay’s band with their nominated hit “Butter” and rock band track “Higher Power” for Best Pop Duo/Group Show.

However, the 45-year-old frontman would love to see BTS – who Coldplay collaborated with on the mega-hit ‘My Universe’ – take home the trophy at the April 3 ceremony in Las Vegas.

Speaking on Dominican Republic radio station Exa 96.9 FM, Chris said: “Of course [I’m rooting for BTS]man.

“I love them. I love these guys and I just wish them well, always.

“My Universe” – which featured on Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” album – missed the deadline to be nominated this year.

Chris explained, “I think the way the Grammys work is that every year the nominations close on a certain date.

“So [‘My Universe’] is not eligible this year. The song we made with BTS, or our album, it might be next year, who knows?

Hit-makers ‘IDOL’ became the first K-pop group to receive a major Grammy nomination last year, but mega-hit ‘Dynamite’ lost in the Best Pop Duo/Group category to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me” collaboration. ‘.

However, not winning became a “driving force” for them to win one of the prestigious golden gramophone trophies in the future.

V said: “Not winning kind of refreshed me. I think that will be a driving force to become better.

Suga added, “We didn’t receive an award this year. But we want to be active as singers for a long time. It’s hard of course, but maybe next year, or the year after. or before the end of our career, we want to get a Grammy.

Jimin said he wasn’t disappointed that they lost right after the awards show.

He shared a selfie on Twitter and wrote, “Everyone is struggling to stay with us until now! Thank you for supporting me. Thanks to this, I had such a ridiculous experience. Thank you very much and I’m happy, ARMY! Love.”
