Harry Styles Talks Getting Familiar With Aging In The Music Industry – MOVIN 92.5

Harry Styles broke into the music industry at the age of 16. More than a decade later, the “As It Was” singer says he no longer wants to compete with the success he had as part of A direction.

In a larger space Better homes and gardens interview, the 28-year-old Grammy winner talked about watching Billie Eilish at the 2021 Grammys.

“She was so much younger than me, and when I was in the band, we were always the youngsters. When I did my first solo thing, I was always like the young guy,” Harry said.

“I’m not like an old man now, but she’s just from a different generation,” said the don’t worry darling added actor. Instead of feeling threatened by Billie’s rising star status, he no longer tries to be “the thing”.

Harry thinks it’s unhealthy and unsustainable to try to stay relevant and compete with younger artists, which he says has led to people falling apart and making bad career choices.

“You can’t win music. It’s not like Formula 1,” he noted. “I was like, in my life, there’s going to be 10 other people who will burst onto the scene like this, and I’ll just walk away from being the young thing.”

Harry now has a new “liberating” mindset, which is: “Be comfortable with finding something else that makes you happy. »

It is this mantra that led him to create his new album, Harry’s housewhich arrives on May 20.

“Finally, I don’t feel like my life is over if this album isn’t a commercial success,” he exclaims, while admitting it’s the first time he feels that. He no longer cares about making “really big songs” or “playing it safe”. He just wants to do “stuff that’s right, that’s fun.”
