Miranda Lambert Named Artist of the Year at ACM Awards E! News UK

Miranda Lambert was crowned Artist of the Year for the first time at the 2022 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on Monday.

The singer beat out Eric Church, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and Carrie Underwood to claim the top honor of the night after being nominated for the award six times.

In a virtual acceptance speech from London, Lambert told the audience she was heartbroken she finally won the award the year she was unable to attend the ceremony due to touring commitments .

“Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m not here to celebrate… This is the first time I’ve missed the ACMs in 17 years,” she said. “My heart is a bit broken, but I’m happy to be where I am. I’ve been waiting for this for a very, very long time. In fact, I never thought this would happen. But thank you very much to the country musical family for embracing me all these years and for continuing to support me.

“This one is for all the singer-songwriters who have put their blood, sweat and tears down their guitar strings. We did it! This is for us!”
