The first Quartet Music Awards will take place on June 18 in Atlanta

The stage is being set for the biggest night in Gospel Quartet music. The first Quartet Music Awards (The QMA) will take place on Saturday, June 18 at the Center Stage Theater, 1374 West Peachtree Street in Atlanta, GA. The ceremony will be a historic night of electrifying performances and memorable moments. The QMAs will showcase the rich heritage that the Quartet genre has contributed to the landscape of Gospel, Soul, Blues, Rock and R&B music. The awards ceremony will be hosted by “East Coast’s Hottest Host” Justin Rufus and Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones.

The Quartet Music Awards are the vision of D. Chubbs Morton. Morton is a songwriter, musician and leader of the popular band D. Morton and Gifted.

“It’s time. The Quartet has fought tirelessly to be recognized and respected for our music and our culture,” says D. Chubbs Morton, AMQ’s Executive Director. include our artists on their main stages. It’s time we became the change we want to see.

He continues, “The biggest part of our QMAs is that it’s not just for the performer on stage. We created this for listeners, ticket buyers, supporters and anyone or anyone who loves this thing we call Quartet!

The QMAs will not only recognize today’s most talented artists, bands and rising stars in the Quartet, but will honor the icons and legends who have helped leave their mark and made the genre flourish. The first class of QMA Honors (living and posthumous) will be awarded to the late Lee Williams (Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s), Tiffanie Tutu Agee (The Truthetts), George Dean (The Gospel 4), Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, Harvey Watkins, Jr. (The Canton Spirituals), the late Cleve Graham (The Pilgrim Jubilees), Spencer Taylor (The Highway QC’s) and the late Percy Griffin (The Swannie Quintet).

“It is extremely important to me that we recognize the musical legends of the Quartet, because they are our foundation and paved the way for us,” said Connie Birth, Chief Operating Officer of the AMQ. “They established the original Quartet plan. It is not only about music but also about culture. Without them, we wouldn’t be here. We are Quartet.

The sixteen QMA categories and official 2022 nominees have been announced. Voting is open to the public! Until April 1, 2022, fans can vote for their favorite singer, band and professional music quartet at QuartetMusicAwards.com/vote-now.
