“While celebrating and supporting local artists is important every year, and the reason we founded OMAs in the first place, the 2022 awards ceremony continues to hold special significance given the barriers musicians have faced. faced in recent years,” adds OMA Director Thao Nghiem. . “Despite this, our creative industry is thriving and we were honored to receive many wonderful submissions for the 2022 awards season.”

In its continued commitment to supporting local artists, OMAs recently offered an unprecedented deadline extension, allowing musicians more time to gather their submissions amid the aftermath of the pandemic and its cascading impact. Additionally, the 2022 Oshawa Music Awards will once again hand out Lifetime Achievement and Industry Leader Awards, highlighting distinct work within the local community.
