Eric Clapton’s Ferrari Modena Up for Auction This Sunday – Music News

Leading online auction platform for classic and specialty vehicles Car & Classic adds another prestigious car owned by a celebrity to its star-studded wall of fame: a 2003 Ferrari Modena originally purchased by multi-Grammy Award-winning British singer and guitarist Eric Clapton.

Clapton, appointed by CBE and OBE, whose passion for Ferraris is well documented, added the new 360 Modena to his ever-growing collection in 2003. The car, one of the only manual RHD 352 Modenas ever built, was lived a pampered life and is in exceptional condition, with a full Ferrari service history and a touch of over 20,000 miles on its elegant clock.

The leather makes a bold statement inside, continuing into the roof lining and down to the original briefcase containing the Ferrari toolbox. Predictably, the Modena comes in a “Rosso” paint job covering the first all-aluminum body (and spaceframe!) built by the Italian sports car manufacturer, but – unusually – its DOHC 40-valve engine 3.6 V8 is mated to a rare and highly desirable manual gearbox.

“Car & Classic is definitely becoming the go-to place to find vehicles with a wonderfully unique background story,” says Chris Pollitt, Managing Editor of Car & Classic. “Even without regard to the original owner of this Modena, the car is in exceptional condition and quite rare in itself. Add the ‘Slowhand’ touch, and you truly have the automotive equivalent of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to which Clapton has been inducted not once, but three times.

The legendary prancing horse joins a series of celebrity-owned vehicles being auctioned off by Car & Classic, the latest of which was Elton John’s Continental R, sold last month.
