The American Country Music Awards honor the late Naomi Judd

Singer Naomi Juddmember of Grammy-winning duo The Judds and mother of Wynonna Ashley Judd died on Saturday at the age of 76.

His daughters announced his death in a statement provided to The Associated Press. “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our mother-in-law to mental illness,” the statement read. “We are broken. We navigate deep mourning and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her audience. We are in uncharted territory. The Judds were to be inducted into the County Music Hall of Fame on Sunday.


Many actors from the country scene have reached out to pay tribute to the late Grammy winner, including the American Country Music Awards.

The ACM Awards honor the late Naomi Judd

The American Country Music Awards honored the late singer by reflecting on her accomplishments in the country music industry. They tweeted: “The Academy is deeply saddened by the heartbreaking news this afternoon of the passing of Naomi Judd. Along with her daughter Wynonna, the Judds have won the ACM Award for Best Vocal Duo 7 years in a row, as well as the ACM Award Pioneer most recently at the Academy of Country Music Honors.

The Academy later added, “The Judds got 14 noes. 1 songs, including many unforgettable hits. Please join us in remembering his inspiring passion, beautiful spirit and magnificent talent.

Many fans commented on the post to offer their thoughts and prayers. One fan wrote: “Very sad. Prayers for Wynonna and Ashley, Naomi’s husband Larry, and the rest of the family. Many music industry players have also paid tribute to the late talent, including “American Idol” alum Carrie Underwood.

Carrie Underwood tweeted, “Country music has lost a true legend…sing with the angels, Naomi!!! We all send prayers for the Judd family today…”

Travis Tritt tweeted: “This is heartbreaking news! Naomi Judd was one of the loveliest people I have ever known. I had the honor of working with her in movies and many music events My deepest condolences go out to his family.”

The Oak Ridge Boys tweeted: “Oh Sweet Jesus…Naomi Judd went home…day before Judds @countrymusichof induction…It’s [devastating] news… We are saddened beyond words…”

Ty Herndon tweeted: “Truly heartbroken to hear the news of Naomi Judd. My heart and prayers go out to Wynonna, Ashley Judd and all of us friends and fans who loved and respected her so much She is irreplaceable – a country music legend will never be forgotten.
