In collaboration with the incredible Juno award-winning artist, Donovan Woods, “The Sun & The Sea” captures a serenity of harmonious melodies from both. Performed elegantly in Ziggy’s prevalent seaside acoustic folk style, the single is kept stripped down, vocals front and center without too much distracting instrumentation in the background.
In 2022, it is already Ziggy’s third single of the year, after “Tattoos” and “The Great Divide”. Hopefully fans will have more to come as the year progresses.
“Last year, I discovered Donovan’s music and immediately became a fan. We actually talked because I put a song of his on one of my personal playlists – and started swiping into his DM after he left a comment (haha). Says Ziggy, talking about how the collaboration came about. “Everything about this collaboration felt so natural. When I wrote “The Sun & The Sea” there were nuances of Donovan’s melodic vibe, so we phoned each other and I sent him the track so he could potentially work together. From the first time I heard him sing “we want to be famous”, I was blown away; he felt that was how the song was meant to be from the start. Working with Do-novan on this song made it one of my favorite stories of all time.
